In the South, the church fan resembles a sense of coolness derived from black experiences in Baptist church spaces and it is too a part of style and dress. Some of us Southerners appreciate the fond memories of vacation bible school during hot summers because we knew it could have been hotter without church fans.

Church fans reminded us black people were distinctive through iconic artwork and powerful figures displayed on church fans. Today, The Ganzy’s artwork and church fans remind us to love black people who are too often excluded from black culture due to their gender or sexual orientation. During these times, Black Love is the essence of the revolution, so we could never have enough black love.
